Cheese Giveaway Slated
RIO GRANDE - Another distribution of surplus cheese will take place in Cape May County next month, it is announced by Cape Human Resources, Inc., lead agency for the program. Five-pound blocks of processed cheese will be distributed May 14-17 to county individuals and families who qualify. AUTOMATICALLY eligible for the food are: those on Public Assistance, Food Stamps, Supplemental Social Security (SSI); General Assistance; Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), and Medicaid. Only one person per household may apply, and proof of participation in one of the programs mentioned must be presented at the cheese distribution location. Because of a ruling by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, participants in the Pharmaceutical Assistance Program for the Aged (PAA), are no longer elgible. Many PAA card recipients, however, are still eligible for such free commodities. A SINGLE senior may have an annual income up . to $9,213; a couple may have $12,432 income. Eligible seniors must bring either proof of income or participation in one of the programs mentioned or be prepared to sign a selfcertification form attesting to their income. Gross income limitations range from $9,213 for individuals to $31,746 for a family of eight. For each additional family member, add $3,219 to the income limit. Proof of income is -^"required.
