WILDWOOD CREST - In campaign literature sent out recently. George Denham, a candidate for borough commission in the election May 14. assailed the present commission for , holding public hearings on f) Tuesday mornings and promised. if elected, to support scheduling of all such hearings in evening hours. Denham also backed formation of civic groups to express the views of residents and called for monthly town meetiifgs attended by department heads as well as commissioners. AVALON - Raymond Batten of this borough, a candidate for the state Assembly, has received the support of the Cumberland County Democratic Committee. Batten will team with Peter L. Amico of Vineland in the run for the Cumber-land-Cape May seats now held by Republicans Guy Muziani, former mayor of Wildwood, and Joseph Chinicci.

VanArtsdalen Jr. have opened their campaign headquarters on 47th Street and are conducting a door-to-door campaign throughout the community The slate pledges immediate attention to the city's roads, and to help increase general revenue by efficiently managing revenue programs and implementing cost savings in all areas. They promised to justify costs to the taxpayers. WILDWOOD CREST - Borough Commission candidate Robert Young, who, earlier in April, was accusing Mayor John Pantalone and Commissioner Charles Guhr of dragging their feet on measures to stop replacement of ' singlefamily housing with multifamily dwellings, has a new worry. In a recent release, after the commission tightened zoning regulations to require larger multi-unit dwellings, Young says, "I am / concerned that the stop-gap enactment of borough zoning changes will mislead residents of the Crest into believing the condominium problem has gone away." In truth, says Young. 'These changes are temporary measures that can be modified and/or eliminated by the new master plan which will be develolped after the election." Democratic gubernatorial candidate Touring one of the largest commercial fisheries in Cape May County. Shapiro told some of the 40 employes of Lund's Fisheries here that the "fishing industry's greatest battle may still lie ahead" He told the group that just last week he had . testified before an EPA hearing in Monmouth County and urged the federal government to reconsider its plans for a test burn in the Atlantic Ocean.
