Hope you'll excuse us if we ask "How can such a dotty board plan anything?" galore. For reservations or further information, call 465-7281. Marty and Jim Collin, bayside residents at 94th Street, have just returned from a great trip to the Caribbean. They went first to Puerto Rico, where they bumped into a former student of Jim's at Mercers burg Academy. At the time he was Jim's pupil he won a bronze medal in the 1960 Olympics. From there they flew to St. Thomas where the visited with Linda Juni, daughter of Elaine vid Dr. Bob Juni. who are their next door neighbors here. They polished off the vacation in St. Croix. Nice that they had some relaxation, because Marty came home to face the teachers' strike at St. Ann's school in Wildwood and Jim, who teaches at Middle Township, will soon return to managing Bud's Market. Priscilla and George Lemanski of 64th Street, Avalon, have just returned from a sentimental journey "up home" in Elizabeth, to visit their son Gregory and his wife Maureen. It was Priscilla and George's 38th wedding anniversary and the younger Lemanski had arranged for a special Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church, where they are parishioners and Maureen teaches. Priscilla says, "We renewed our marriage vows that seem to be so -much more meaningful The pastor gave a beautiful homily that extolled all our virtues. My son must have given him 50 pages of background." After mass Greg and Maureen gave a buffet dinner honoring them for family and close friends. Priscilla describes it as "an experience I'll always remember". At the April 18 meeting of the County Chamber of Commerce, Larry Newbold, agricultural

agent, took members on an ugly slide tour of shim properties in Cape May County. He pointed out that while megabucks are spent promoting tourism an approach to a resort such as Wildwood Boulevard can negate effects of much noney spent on beautification of the resort itself. The worst prflblem in eliminating slum areas is the legal one, i.e., locating the owners. Fi^d Benson of Atlantic City "khggested a ploy currently being tried by Jaycees in that city — repeated publishing of pictures of the ten least desireable properties has resulted in amelioration of two eyesores thus far. Thomas Carver, president of Atlantic City's Casino/Hotel Assoc., made an appeal for cooperation among resorts which, he said, can only benefit each individually. Dennis Curley. manager of the Golden Inn. reported that May 19-25 is National Tourism Week, slogan for which is "Tourism works for America." To which our county adds "Hospitality works for Tourism". STONE HARBOR Seniors opted for a luncheon rather than a fun night on April 24th. Alice and V.P. Scott Daniels chaired the event and suggested arriving promptly to enjoy cocktails. Saying "Come early" in Stone Harbor is like firing a pistol at the Penn Relays — consequently by 11:45 70 people were seatedand ordering from the menu. Recent returnees Arnie Morris a?d Cass and Sam Schettinger were warmly greeted by paler pals. Ruthie Fisher presented the Daniels with a gorgeous begonia plant from members wanting to express thanks for all the activities the couple dreamed , up and worked on to spark j interest on drab winter . days. In the door prize drawitg | for bottles of champagne i the following members hit the jackpot. Mary Conwell. Ray deLaurentis, Gene I Fisher. Jean Hoist. Helen Hope, Elsie Mott, Charlie Rudrauff, Cass Schettinger. Be Schissler. Quentin Sternberg, Fred Treher and Angling Andy Woolery.
