... TODAY IS MAY DAY. innauguarating a month that's just about perfect in the eyes of many people It is especially that way to us and not just because it happens to be our birthday month. The good weather, the flowering plants, the sound of birds is what makes this month such a treat. By the way. MAYDAY, the call for help used by ships and planes in trouble has nothing to do with May Day. It's just an English spelling of the way the French word 'm'aidez' sounds. 'M'aidez' means help me.' So help us. that's the truth. Coming up on the May calendar is Mother's Day. There's still plenty of time to buy cards, gifts, flowers and make plans The second Sunday in May is the day picked to honor mothers. Nowadays we hear a lot about working mothers, but r> every mother we've ever , known has been a working mother, including mothers who stay at home. There's always been laundry and cooking and shopping and kid tending, and all those things take time, especially kid tending. As humorist Irma Bombeck said, 'motherhood is the world's second oldest profession': We're proud to be in this honored league. As spring advances with each passing day. there's lots to keep us busy — planting. and mowing, and sniffing the fragrant air. Breathe deep this month — and enjoy' When it comes to enjoying good scents, the scent of good cooking appeals to us. Here are some nearby places for enjoying good scents: WINDRIFT.
