STREETS OF FIRE (MCA) "R" Director Walter Hill's vision of a rock and roll fan tasy/drama was a bit too surrealistic for the average movie goer, which caused it to fizzle at the box office. Too bad. as Streets Of Fire s music, lighting, cinematography, editing, and acting (especially Michael Pare. Diane Lane, and Amy Madigan) allow it to overcome the few flaws in its script. In the 50 s.. this tale of honor, revenge, and morality would have probably been a western starring John Wayne or maybe Kirk Douglas, as much of the storyline follows the western format. The staging of the musical scenes is truly larger than life, resulting in the already powerful soundtrack's overwhelming the viewer. Streets Of Fire is hardly a classic, but it is entertaining and a lot of hard work went into it to make it sound and look as good as it does. BOLERO (USA) "NR" This ' adult comedy/drama" is a sorry mess. From the insipid dialogue to the horrendous performances. Bolero is an absolute embarrassment. Noting is going on in this picture — except Bo Derek removing her clothes once every few minutes. When she's not doing that. Bo reads her lines as if she's a flunk -out of the Pia Zadora School Of Acting. What's supposed to be sexy is nothing more than the

equivelent of a John and Bo Derek home movie, and we all know how tedious those can be. Yawn. BLAME IT ON RIO (Vestren) "R" Unlike Bolero. Blame It^)n Rio shows one can m^» a risque adult comedy without resorting to a tepid screenplay, beautiful actresses who can't act. and sloppy direction. BLAME IT ON RIO is a funny film about adults reaching mid-life crises and teenagers who are trying to come to terms with their own sexuality, i Michael Caine is perfect as the man who has an affair with his best friend's teenage daughter, portrayed by promising newcomer Michelle Johnson. Meanwhile his friend, brilliantly played to the hilt by Joseph Bologna, has been having an affair with Caine's wife (Valerie Harper).
