Cops Arrest 28 Suspects
COURT HOUSE - Mid die Township police wrapped up a one-month operation last week with the arrest of 28 suspects on drug, firearms, alcohol, theft, delinquency or other charges. During a Monday morning press conference. Mayor Michael Voll said the township's major crime unit began the operation after police recorded a 61 percent increase in burglaries and an 80 percent rise in drug trafficking through the first quarter of the year. Working with undercover lawmen and police from other county] municipalities, the Middle Township cops raided a Gus Beach Road home in Green Creek, confiscating drug paraphernalia and a pound of marijuana, Voll reported. Arrested there on drug charges, he said, were residents Sidney, 29, and Andrea Chase, 25; Diane Brodbeck, 19, of Dias Creek Road. Court House; and Clarence McPherson, 23, of Court House. LAWMEN ALSO raided 220 Tenth St. in Edgewood where they confiscated drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine (speed), said Voll. while arresting residents Susan Martin, 28 and David Schellinger, 21, on drug charges. It was the second raid on Martin's home, the mayor added. The first, was in December, he said, when she was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and a hypodermic syringe. Thomas MacNeir, 47, was arrested at his Route 47 home. Green Creek, for possession of a sawed-off shotgun, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Voll added, while William Och, 25, was arrested on drug charges at his Benny's Landing Road home. Court House. Also arrested on drug charges, Voll continued were Mark Conner, 21, of 639 Delaware Ave., Philadelphia; Lawrence Esham, 25. of 133 Shore Rd., Ocean View, Dennis Township; Steven Grugan. 28, of 28 Lavander Rd., Shaw crest. He said police arrested the following suspects for alcohol violatons: Adrian Brown, 18, of Dennis Road, South Dennis; Timothy Schmidheiser, 18, of 405 W. 18th St., North Wildwood; Benjamin Laurielk), 19, of 8501 Bayview Dr., Wildwood Crest; Doreen Sheehan, 22, of 812 7th AW., Prospect Park, Pa.; Stephen Hansel, 21, of 1706 New York Ave., Wildwood; Teresa Newkirk, 22, of 143 Haddon Ave., Haddonfield; Mark Phillips, 21, of 117 W. 22nd St., North Wildwood and Joseph Gillin, 20, of E. Gienwood Ave., Wildwood. Two juveniles were also > taken into custody, Voll said, for delinquency. ✓ Young Art Workshop CAPE MAY- The County Art League offers a workshop 10:30 a.m. -noon Saturdays. Children with an art background, aged 9-13, can come in and use their imagination and skills in any medium. They must bring their own materials. The workshop is designed so that the young artist can express and create openly what he or she feels. Ann Marie Jennings will supervise the workshop, which will be held both indoors and outdoors.
