Young Abusers Targets COURT HOUSE - Bur dette Tomlin Memorial Hospital and Mental Health Services of Cape May County are joining forces to provide an innovative new program for adolescent substance abusers and their families Katie McGuckin. of Operation Junction, a division of Mental Health Services of Cape May County, will establish an intensive out-patient program of group therapy at the hospital. Young people committed to recovery from alcoholism . or chemical dependency will meet twice a week. Family members will be included in some of the group sessions and will also be offered separate educational programs INDIVIDUAL counseling I has been available to young people in the county, but this ' is the first peer group program to be organized here. ' A firm commitment to sobriety will be a requirement for acceptance and enrollees will be allowed to continue only if they maintain their resolve Operation Junction's special emphasis will be on providing a strong positive support group for the whole recovering family "We hope to be a vital part of the family's community network and to create a feeling of unity and support for the recovering adolescent,'' says McGuckin MS. McGl'CKIN is a graduate of Rutgers University with a Master's in social work and special training in out-patient alcohol services.
