Wildwood Aces Sign Free Agents

WILDWOOD - The Wildwood Aces of the United States Basketball League has announced the signings of three free agents for the upcoming season. This brings to eight the number of players reporting to training camp at the North Wildwood Community Center Sunday May 12. The signees include Kevin Springman. a power forward from St. Joseph University in Philadelphia. Springman. 6' 10", 240 pounds, was selected in the third round of 1st year's N.B.A. draft by the Detroit Pistons. "He should be in the thick of things when the final roster is put together," said Rich Iannarella, the Aces' general manager. FORMER COLLEGE Standout Clyde Bradshaw, a 6'2" guard from DePaul, will also seek a spot on the 2 Aces' roster. The East Orange resident played his I college ball for coach Ray Meyer and was a member of several N.C.C.A. tournament teams.

"We're hoping that Clyde will provide leadership for a young ballclub. said Innarella. . Another forward, 6'9" Ed Sigl of Bucknell, has returned from Ireland's National League to join the Aces. Sigl performed for the Callaway Democrats and averaged better than 35 points-per-game. Sigl as graduated in 1984 for Bucknell and resides in Union, N.J. DURING TRAINING camp, aces' coach Pete Monska will put the squad through two workouts a day until the team breaks camp May 25. The Aces will travel to Long Island for an exhibition game May 20 vs the Knights. Another preseason tilt is still in the works. The regular season gets under way May 27 with an army game at Long Island followed by another road contest at New Jersey on the 30th. The Aces' Home opener is set for Sunday, June 2, at the Wildwood Convention Hall. All Aces' home games get under way at 8:35 p.m.
