Summer Vacation For MUA Island Work

SWAINTON - Almost all the MUA's 'Municipal Utilities Authority) island construction should be suspended for the summer season by May 24, officials announced. "We have recognized from the very beginning of our construction activities that most of these operations would be incompati- — | ble with the active summer tourist season " MUA Executive Director George Marinakis said. "So we have always made it a stipulation in our construcItion contracts that heavyconstruction activities in I residential areas and ac- - tivities requiring heavy equipment which would disrupt normal traffic flows had to be shut down during the summer."According to Project Manager Lloyd Dove, the May 24. shutdown date will be striclty enforced." THE LAST SECTION of pipe for the outfall line for Seven Mile Beach/Middle Region has been launched I from the beach at 30th ' Street in Avalon and the contractors there are well ahead of the schedule for a May 24 shutdown. Dove said Hinchey, Elliott Engaged AVALON - Mr and Mrs Joseph Hinchey of Philadelphia and this boroqgh have announced the engagement of their daughter Christine Francis to Stephen Joseph Elliott Christine attended Holy Family College Her fiance attended the Juilliard School of Music. Columbia University, and the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University A July wedding is planned

Dove also said that municipal officials in Wildwood Crest have allowed the contractor there to move a laser truck down on the beach at Jefferson Avenue to help speed up work on the outfjj 1 line Lor the Wildwood/Lower Region. The shutdown stipulation doesn't apply to any work done 1,000 feet or more out in the ocean. "By May 24, the contractor will be 1,000 feet out into 'the ocean with this outfall line," Dove Reported. "Plans are to work during the summer beyond the 1 . 000-foot point and the only signs of construction will be the barges out in the water." ALL PIPLINES in the

Wildwoods should be in the ground by May 15. Dove said, although the contractor at the Grassy Sound Crossing may have to get an extension "for a week or so to remove sheeting and restore the -area." He also said the contractor laying pipe in the Seven Mile Beach/Middle Regions won't finish by the May 24 cutoff date and will have to complete his r pipeline work. The only work that will be allowed during the summer, Dove said, is above ground construction of buildings at some of the pumping station sites since this is similar to residential constructidft which has always been carried on during the summer months. ,
