By Libby Demp Forrest MID-MAY. A lovely month, a lovely week, a lovely time of year. With all the abundant blooms we may have been too busy to enjoy the May skies. To date we have travelled almost half way along our yearly path around the sun, since the year began — can you believe it? Astronomically, this means that new star groups have come into view at this stage of our journey. % ... Some of the planets just now are quite beautiful in the morning or evening sky. Look for Arcutus, in' Bootes, the brightest star now in the eastern sky. Below it, and nearer to the south line, is another bright star, Spica, in the constellation Virgo. Look for the Big Dipper, almost directly overhead now, the farthest south it ever gets at nine o'clock at night. * * * VEGA, in the northeast, and Antares, ■ low in the southeast, are bright stars of our summer months, just coming into view. Makes a night walk on the promenade quite a treat. ♦ * * H The monarch butterflies are returning this week. They like to feast on milkweed plants as they travel. The roadsides are getting well up with milkweed just in H time. * * * When it comes to ieasting, we love to enjoy the local restaurants every chance

we get. Here are several we've been to lately: BONANZA. How does a mouthwatering, sizzling juicy steak sound? How about tasty chicken or fresh .seafood at the new, affordable Bonanza located at the southern end of the Garden State Parkway at Ocean Drive, just beyond Cape May's famous harbor. A Bonanza restaurant has iust opened its' doors, featuring plentiful portions of popular foods plus all you can eat from the famous Freshtastiks Food Bar, including crisp veggies, tempting fruits, piping hot breads, and yummy desserts. There are special hamburger and chicken meals for the youngsters, too. Is everybody happy? Stop in soon for a relaxed meal out. • * ♦ 410 BANK STREET. That's both the name and the address of one of Cape May's finest restaurants, 410 Bank Street. The Mesquite Grilled specialties are especially recommended — the Black Angus Steak 410 is a thick certified black angus strip steak grilled over mesquite, glazed with the restaurant's own cajun sauce. Exquisite. Appetizers included Cajun Crawfish Popcorn, deep-fried and corn-battered with a 410 Bank St. -crafted Louisiana dipping sauce and Mesquite Grilled Shrimp en Brochette with shrimp butter sauce. You will find the selections out of the ordinary, the setting is too. Reservations suggested — telephone 884-2127. * * • CAFE LOREN. Avalon's noteworthy Cafe Loren is once again open and serving the pleasurable foods of past seasons in the special atmosphere of the seashore.

Every dish is faithfully prepared from ■ only the freshest ingredients with touches from the world over. A charming motif puts Cafe Loren customers in just the right frame for enjoying the surprisingly deluxe menu. Reservations are always welcome — call 967-8228. The Cafe Loren is located at 23rd & Dune Drive and is currently open weekends. *. « - • SYLVESTER'S. Sylvester's Fish Market and Clam Bar, at 21st and 5th Avenue, Avalon is just the place to come for freshly caught seafood, chowders and tasty sandwiches made in a jiffy. We have to admit we like to top our dinners with a slice of one of Sylvester's homemade pies that are baked fresh daily. There are daily dinner specials — Shrimp Scampi is featured Wednesdays and Alaskan King Crab on Fridays. You'll find lots of choices along with a complete line of fresh seafood, packed in ice for travel. * * » THE WHARF. The Wharf, at Burk and Bay, Wildwood, overlooking the Intercoastal Waterway; opens today for the H . season. It's a great relaxed place to enjoy lunch and/or dinner. You can even come by boat, tie up and enjoy a quality meal while treating yourself to the view as well as the food. The diverse menu includes choices to suit all tastes. Lunch is served from noon; dinner between 5 to 9. The new Raw Bar ~ is a good catch anytime.
