J Belleplain Honor Paid DiLorenzo
BELLEPLAIN - Ceremonies marking dedication of a monument to deceased area servicemen and groundbreaking for a recreation area were held Saturday by Belleplain Post 6257, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The occasion was also to honor Post Commander Albert DiLorenzo, recently elected for his 10th term, for his service to the post since 1946. Ground was broken on a 34-acre plot next to the post home for a patilion, concession buildings, playgrounds for children and parking^irea. WILLIAM HOUGHTON presented the dedication to DiLorenzo Saturday. The commander is a charter
member of the post and the only member who, has paid his dues continually since 1946. He also helped reorganize the post in 1969. On Veterans Day since 1976, the post, under D'iLorenzo's direction, has had the residents of the New Jersey Memorial Home in Vineland as guests for dinner and entertainment. A STATE FLAG provided through Gov. Thomas H. Kean and commander of the New Jersey National Guard, and an American flag which has flown over the U.S. Capitol, obtained through Rep. William Hughes. D-2nd, were presented to the post for the occasion. DiLorenzo, a native of Belleplajji, is an .Army veteran of World War II, and was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf Clusters, a Presidential citation, and the European-Africa-Middle Eastern Service Medal. Among those attending were officers and members of the 17th District (South Jersey) VFW posts, Boy Scouts, township, county, and state officials, representatives of the Coast Guard, and other organizations.
Lodge To Confer 2nd Degree COLD SPRING - Cape Island Lodge 30. Free and Accepted Masons, will confer Second Degree titles on five First Degree Masons during a 7:30 p. m ceremony Tuesday at the lodge on Seashore Road, according to Herbert Wills, worehipful master. He said Bro SW Faber W. Kearse Jr. will be in the east during this degree with Worshipful Brother Ernest Utsch III delivering the M/C lecture. All traveling Master Masons are invited to ■ come out and support us in conferring this degree on these new brothers." Wills said.
