I But it has a deeper meaning — dedication to I the memory of all who died in war for our I country. Less we forget. * * * With everything open again, there are I plenty of activities to suit anyone's fancy, I unless you're a recluse. If you'd rather be I by yourself, you'll have to wait a bit — until I next winter sets in. Most of us tho like this time of year. Isn't I this what we wait for all year? • * * Look at Memorial day ceremonies, fairs ■ and antique shows this weekend. Also this is I a good time to enjoy the May flowers, especially the roses coming into bloom. THE ROSE is our favorite flower; call it rose fever, if you will. We have a passion for ■ enjoying the variety, color and history of I this most popular of all flowers. But in late May and early June a lot of the I picturesque flowers are roses — so they'll I definitely be coming up roses. Look for I them. • * * This fragrant time of year is abundant I with the good life. Here are some of, our I favorite restaurants where we go to enjoy |H the good life:

AVALON'S SIDEWALK CAFE. Did you say ice cream? Don't we all scream for ice cream? Avalon's Sidewalk Cafe at 26th Street at the Avalon, offers exquisite ice cream and fruit creations that are unrivaled even in an area where the fervor peaks in the good qld summertime. The Sidewalk Cafe menu includes green salads, waffles and sandwiches, fruit salads, yogart and of course, ice cream cones. (Will you have jimmies or a crunchcoat?) Bassett's and Haagen Daz ice cream, Barricini and other natural brands are served. • • * RUSSO'S. White-natured veal and seafood are the specialties at Russo's Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge, located at 4415 Park Boulevard, Wildwood. Russo's is home to lovers of Italian food, made in the time honored Old World tradition. The Russo's serve their inspired cuisine just as in generations past, with the same fresh ingredients personally selected by the Russo family. If you ask around where the town's most outstanding Italian food is served, Russo's is always at the top of the list. • • • THE PROMENADE. Does the Promenade sound a little unfamiliar? Formerly the Montreal Restaurant and Lounge, at Beach and Madison Avenues, Cape May, The Promenade is a totally new greenhouse atmosphere, still under the watchful eyes of the Hirsch family. ■ /

Serving brunch, dinner and spirits, The I Promenade is well worth investigating I while it is becoming another Cape May I landmark. Delicious food and congenial I food are to be found at the Promenade just I as in days past, but the atmosphere we have I to admit, is even better. • • • TOP OF THE MARQ. Come up in the I world to the Top of the Marq, the rooftop I restaurant atop the Marquis de Lafayette, I at 501 Beach Drive, Cape May. You can I overlook the waves at this high point of I shore dining palaces. ^ H The food specialties are numerous, and I the service is always excellent. Enjoy fresh I seafood, chops, prime roast beef, and fine I international cuisine at Cape May's one of a I kind settings. * * * GREEN CUISINE. The Green Cuisine, at I 302-96 th Street, Stone Harbor offers natural- I ly delicious fruit and yogurt drinks, hearty H homemade soups and gourmet sandwiches, I available on special breads. We enjoyed a Pita Pizza there last I weekend, a pita shell filled with mozzarella I and parmesan cheese, with a tangy pizza I sauce. Beverages include Perrier mineral I water, natural herbal teas and freshly H made lemonade.
