Annual House Tour Slated June 28-30
CAPE MAY —The County Art League will hold its annual house tour Friday, Saturday and Sundav, June 28-30. Several homes will make their first appearance on this year's tour along with many favorites from past years. There will be structures from many periods of the county's history. Every era from early colonial through the Victorian for which Cape May is noted, as well as contemporary homes will be included. Lunch will be available at modest prices at the South Dennis United Methodist Social Hall, Route 47, from 11 a.m. FRIDAY WILL feature exhibits and a slide lecture program 7 to 9 p.m. in the County Historical Museum, Route 9, Court House. Saturday homes, churches, and public buildings in the upper part of the county will be open. Bus transportation will be available. Advance reser- | vations are necessary.
These homes are open to the one weekend a year only. Sunday there will be self guided tours through Cape May City, "The Nation's First Resort". Victorian homes on the lined streets evoke visions of a less hurried, more gracious time in our history. SPECIAL EVENTS for the weekend include the historic Hereford Inlet Lighthouse in North Wildwood. This building will be open Saturday 4 to 7 p.m. for a tour and wine and cheese. Authors of the book "Victorian Holidays" and the soon to be published "Self Guided Architectural Tour of Cape May, NJ" will be at the Art League Saturday from 2 p.m. and Sunday frotji 11 a.m. Howard Micheals and Marsha Cudworth will sign books and talk with the public. Jersey Cape Guild Plans Simon Play
COURT HOUSE - After a successful run of the production "Night of January j 16th", in the historic court • hou&e here this past spring, the Jersey Cape Performing Arts Guild is now preparing for its next production. Neil Simon's "Last of the I Red Hot Lovers" will be j presented in Cape May Court House at the auditorium in Elementary School 3 Opening nights will be June 7 and 8 and the show will run through the first three weekends in June. A TYPICAL Simon comedy. the audience will be treated to the usual Simon wit and one-liners. Barney Cashman. tho focal character of the play, feels that after 23 years of marriage he should experience an affair. He encounters three different women in comical situations in his at- ' tempt to fulfill his fantasies The plot thickens as he is at conflict with his conscience. . Eileen Elia of Erma is cast as the ever-abrasive character of Elaine Navazio. Recently seen as the accused murderess Karen Andre in "Night of January 16th", Eileen continues to be involved in musicals and plays throughout the community. RALPH VALERI of Court House is portraying Barney Cashman. Ralph played the bailiff in the guild's last production and is currently serving as President of the guild. Marion Holzmer of North Cape May is cast as the'' depressive character of Jeanette Fisher. Marion was also last seen in "Night of January 16th" portraying the Swedish witness, Magda Svenson. Marion Vhas been quite active in community theatre for many years and has a number of credits to her name. Denise Yost of Sea Isle City, a /newcomer to the
guild, is playing the aspiring actress and free spirit. Bobbi Michelle. Denise has also been active with com- . munity theatre throughout \ the area. DIRECTING THE production is Donal Cardwell of South Dennis. Don, a former New York actor, has done a considerable amount of acting and directing in_ professional theatre^ Don played the prosecuting attorney in "Night of January 16th" and the villain in the melodrarruKheld in Cape May during* Victorian Week this pasTfall. Assisting Don in the technical aspect are several active members of the guild Bob Parette of , Cape May is serving as assistant to the director, ' Faye Senior and daughter Becky of Court House are stage managers, and producer is Patricia ChoiceGetz, also of Court House. Hospital Trip AVALON - The Upper Cape Chapter of Deborah will sponsor a trip to Deborah Hospital Thursday, May 29, with the bus leaving Avalon Community Hall 8 a.m. The price includes lunch.
