STONE HARBOR - The co-authors of Life in the Chesapeake Bay will be guests of honor at a public reception, dinner and lecture at the Wetlands Institute Saturday, June 8. The special evening follows a day-long Spring Fling to celebrate the Year of the Wetlands. Alice Jane Lippson and Robert L. Lippson of Maryland's Eastern Shore will be speakers on "Life in the Chesapeake Bay" at 8:15 that evening. Their book, published in 1984 by Johns Hopkins University Press, is illustrated by A.J. Lippson. It is a field guide to the more than 100 fishes and more than 200 species of crabs, clams, jelly fishes, sponges and other invertebrates of the Chesapeake Bay. INFORMATIVE accounts of the life cycles, feeding methods, interactions with other organisms and geographic distribution are given. Readers find descriptions of animals and plants likely to be seen in one spot , making this guidebook useable for study of sand beaches, intertidal flats, piers, jetties, rocks, shallow water, seagrass meadows and weed beds, marshes, oyster bars and deeper, open waters. THE LIPPSON'S have had long, varied careers in the science field. He holds a doctorate for the physiological ecology of crayfish, a degree in zoology and 3 master's degree in invertebrate zoology from Michigan State University. ' A & - CHESAPEAKE MAVENS — Authors Robert L. and Alice J. Lippson will be featured speakers at Wetlands Institute. Their talk will deal with life in the Chesapeake Bay area.

THE GALA RECEPTION and box dinner begin at 5:30 p.m. under the tent and will feature marinated monkfish. curried rice, peas, fruit on a skewer, nutbread and special beverages. The authors will autograph their books, available at the Wetlands Institute Nature Bookshop. Their lecture at 8:15 p.m. may be attended without the dinner and reception, for a small donation. For reservations, phone the Wetlands Institute at 368-1211 by Thursday. June 6. The Wetlands Institute is open Tuesdays through Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Ecology Courses For Children Set
STONE HARBOR - The Wetlands Institute's 1985 summer mini ecology courses for school-aged children are now open for registration by nonmembers of the Institute The summer schedule includes classes for children grades preschool through eighth grade on the following dates: Preschool (age 4 by JuI y > . Preschool and Kindergarten classes will be 9:30 to U a.m. Elementary grades will be 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. THE PUBLIC is also welcome to participate in salt marsn safaris each Saturday at 10 a.m. This program will include a film about salt marches and a guided walk on the salt march trail. For further information about both programs and registration for mini ecology, call the Wetlands at 368-1211. The Wetlands Institute is Stone Harbor Boulevard and is open to the public Tuesdays. Thursdays and 10 to 4:30.
