Beach Patrol Captain Buzz Mogck explained that the idea for a "Beach Safety Week" grew out of concern that local residents, especially children, need to be as well-versed as possible in beach and water safety. "Most communities have a "Fire Safety Week", noted Mogck. "Cape May's oceanfront location places an added burden on to the local population to be wellinformed, not only in things normal to most other communities, but also in matters related to the ocean and beach." City Council agrees with Mogck's program, and has designed June l-9th as "Beach Safety."
