Aquatic Classes

CAPE MAY - A variety of aquatic programs are included in the city's summer recreation schedule. An Adult Learn To Swim class is offered for ages 14 and- up. This is a basic course designed to teach the beginner to swim and serve as a review for the more accomplished swimmer, and will be held 6-7 p.m. Monday at the Cape May Elementary School. SWIM CLASSES will be offered for infants 2 years Help Needed CAPE MAY - The city has part time work available in the Recreation Department. Swimming instructors, lifeguards and supervisors are needed. For information call 884-8411, ext. 20 or 27. Cape May Gymnastics Class Set CAPE MAY - The City will be continuing its gymnastics class as a part of its 1985 summer recreation schedule. It is a program that is geared toward beginners and intermediate students It is being taught for the summer by Maureen Valentine, who was a gymnast at Louisiana State University. During her four years there, L.S.U. was among the top five gymnastic teams in the country. Maureen has competed against the t female gymnists in the untry, including members of the 1984 Olympic team. The class will take place 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, at the Franklin Street Civic Colter and run for nine weeks. Call the Department of Civic Affairs at 884-8411, ext. 20 or 27 for further information.

City Clinic On Tennis CAPE MAY - A tennis clinic will be offered by the city as part of its summer recreation schedule. It will be a 10-week course that will start June 24 and will be held 10 a.m. -noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The first hour will consist of instruction for ages 7-11 and the second hour will be for ages 12 and older, with instruction being provided by Charles Wise Sr. Further information on the program can be obtained by calling the Department of Civic Affairs at 884-8411, ext. 20 or 27. Exercise class taught by Theresa Forsyth will be continued as part of the city's summer recreation schedule. This class will take place Monday and Wednesday 10-11 a.m. at the Franklin Street Civic Center. Students can pre-register or pay for individual classes. Teeball Opening DENNISVILLE - The Dennis Township Recreation Committee will sponsor an opening day ceremony for the township's five teeball teams. The ceremony is scheduled Saturday at the Dennis Township Elementary School. All players will report to the field at noon. A special guest will be present for the short ceremony planned at this time and then the first game will begin. The teeball program is for Dennis Township youth between 5 and 8. Games will be held on Saturday afternoons at 12 and 2:30 during June. The teams are being sponsored by WAWA in Dennisville, Yogi Bear Campground, Novasack Brothers Turf Farms, William Brennen and Sons Piling Co., and J.P. Collins Lumber Co. All township residents are welcome for the opening day ceremonies as well as the games.
