Lynch's design for the statue is of a seaman's wife and children looking toward Cold Spring Inlet. It was inspired by Heather Baird of Erma Park, a Lower Township sixth grader, whose winning idea for the statue was selected from those of a number of area school children. Commissioned by the county Fishermen's Memorial organization, the . two-foot rpodel will be presented by Lynch during a ceremony at 8 in Lund's Fisheries here, according ta former county Sheriff Beech N. Recycling In Upper
UPPER TOWNSHIP - After five months of recycling on alternate weeks, Upper Township will now pick up recyclables at curbside on a weekly basis, on the same days that trash is picked up in the several communities of the township. Residents of Upper Township are responding in growing numbers to the recycling program. It is anticipated that participation of many additional households will result with weekly curbside pickup, since the confusion of schedule will be eliminated and it will not be necessary to hold the bottles and cans as long. TWO LOCAL men are employed by Upper Township, through the Jersey Cape Diagnostic 1 Center, to assist with the ! Eager Beaver trailer. The I flat-bed trailer is both attractive and efficient. It has metal sides, with ' sliding doors, is partitioned : for convenience in sorting 1 and conveying '• newspapers, cardboard, 1 glass, aluminum cans, and I containers of old oil. This * equipment also has a can- '
vas cover. Drop-off storage sheds have been constructed by township employes for the convenience of residents, who may drop their cans and bottles in the respective barrels, and stack newspapers under the shed roof. THE STORAGE sheds have been placed near the fire hall in Strathmere, across from the Township garage in Tuckahoe, in the parking area front of the Marine Sciences Consortium in Seaville and at the Beesleys Point parking lot at Harbor Road and the Bay. Residents are reminded to tie their papers and cardboard for greater efficiency in Handling them, and to prevent blowing litter. Caps, covers and corks should be removed from glass cans and bottles. Proceeds from the collection of drain oil will directly benefit Multiple Sclerosis. Sale of other recyclables will become a of income for the township rather than an exin tipping fees charged at the MUA Solid Waste
