2 Schools Honored On MS ReadaThon
Two Lower Township schools successfully completed the 1985 MS ReadaThon program, it was announced recently by the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter, National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The schools arerMaud Abrams School. Cold Spring. and Memorial School, Villas. At Maud Abrams School 114 students completed the program by reading a total of 3,350 books, an average of 29.4 books per students. tup: students at Maud Abrams raised $4,519.32 to help those with multiple sclerosis. The money raised by the ReadaThon will also go to fund continuing medical research. Memorial School had 40 students complete the ReadaThon. reading 873 books, an average of 22.3 books per student. The school raised $1,887.13.
AH the students who competed at both schools received coupons for some fun and educational places. The children also received a discount coupon to the Franklin Institute and a coupon for a hamburger from McDonald's. MANY OTHER awards were given to various students for special achievement. Among these students were: Maryellen Markley of Maud Abrams, top reader with 204 books; Albert McCarraher. also of Maud Abrams top fund raiser, who raised $248.75; Kierstyn Claycomb from Memorial was the top sponsor obtainer, with 39 sponsors. Other top students from Maud Abrams were Jonathan Mesker, Chris Pierce, Jimmy Verna, Sharon Gallagher and Gigi Greling. Top students from Memorial were Colleen Brady. Donna Wilson, Shannon Yearicks, Chris a Hermanns, Megan Gorman | and Bruce Pierpont. Four Cape Students on Dean's List EMMITSBURG, MD. - Four Cape May County residents have been named to the Academic Dean's List for the second period at Mount St. Mary's CoUege. To qualify, they had to achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or a possible 4.0. Named to the honor list were: Mark Brooks, a senior, son of Mr. and Mrs. Delton R. Brooks, San Fernando Road, Cold Spring; Christine M. Goodrick, a junior, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Goodrick, Cynwyd Drive, Court House; Andres J. Alameno, a junior, and Mary Alameno, a sophomore, son and daughter of Dr. and Mrs Carmen J. Alameno, Park Boulevard, Wildwood Crest.
