— In Search of a Ndst Site — In southern New Jersey, a six week period during June and early July is the best timeao observe the female diamona- „ back terrapins as they come out of the water in search of nest sites. Terrapins traditionally look for an undisturbed beach area with heavily vegetated dunes with a low slope. Because naturally occuring dunes are so limited, turtles will nest in people's yards, parking lots, roadbeds and other sanay areas above tide line. The nest is dug by the female using only her large, webbed hind feet to scoop out a teardrop-shaped hole about 5 inches deep and 24 and 34 inches in diameter. The total nesting operating varies in length from 12 minutes to an hour. If the female is disturbed she will leave the nest site and look for another. A clutch consists of 5 to 12 eggs. The eggs incubate for GO to 90 days. Sunlight provides the warmth for development. Most hatchings emerge in the late summer and fall although some of the young will remain in the nest until the following spring. Many female terrapins are killed at this time of year when they cross the causeways while looking for a nesting site. Cautions motorists can avoid these slow moving mothers-to-be and help preserve ► the species.

Student Concert At LCMR ERMA — A concert featuring vocal and instrumental selections of students was presented last night at the Lower Cape May Regional High School auditorium. The choir, directed by Sandra Beane. presented interpretations including an "Alleluia" by J.S. Bach, the American Folk Trilogy, the "Battle Hymn of the Republic," and "All My Trials." The Triple Trio performed "If This Is It," by Huey Lewis, and the newly formed Show Choir presented "Let Your Love Fly Here. " THE CONCERT Jazz Ensemble presented improvisational material composed by Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul. and Benny Moten. The Concert Band premiered a work written by its conductor, Edward T. Jurewicz, entitled "Edifice One." Other selections included "Concert Celebration" by Claude T. Smith, "Chorale and Variant" by Elliot Del Borgo, and Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. A medley of popular songs from the 20s featured Sandra Beane as guest vocalist. ^ Soloists included Tim I Cohen on percussion, Kcndall Davis on Trombone, ) Lew. Megonigal on euphonium. Jennifer Seager on synthesizer and Joanne Brandt on piccolo. Sculptures, Paintings On Exhibit CAPE MAY - "Assemblages and Paintings", an exhibition of sculptural works and paintings by Peter M. Craigie, will run through June 30 at the Cape May County Art League 1050 Washington St. Craigie. a native of Philadelphia. has had one-man shows at the Palmer Gallery, Gallery Bacchus. University City Art League North Star Gallery, "It's In the Cards" and the Roger La Pelle Gallery in Philadelphia. He has taught in the Philadelphia School System and is director of the Philadelphia Filmmakers Co-op.
