Delegates Named For Boys' State
CAPE MAY - Michael Hudgins and Daniel MacElrevey have been / selecled as delegates to represent Harry Snyder Post 193 American Legion, at the 40th annual Boys' State to be held June 16-23 at Rider College JTrenton. Michael is theTson of Mr. and Mrs. Hudgins, 660 Hughes St., and Daniel's parents are Mr. and Mrs. MacElrevey of 1037 New York Ave. Both boys will be seniors at Lower Cape May Regional High School in September. Todd Laskey, who has been named alternate, is the son of Mrs. Joyce
Laskey of 2 Beachurst Dr., North Cape May. BOYS' STATE, introduced by the American Legion in Illinois in 1936, is a new nationwide program. Educators consider Boys' State as one of the most important experiences a boy can have. It gives him a chance to learn about all branches of government at all levels from the municipal to the county to the state. Boys' state participants are nominated by their teachers or by seniors who were delegates the previous year. Leadership, scholarship, patriotism and service are the criteria on which tl^y are chosen. American Legion posts sponsor the boys. Lighthouse Tour Slated On June 29 NORTH WILDWOOD - In conjuction with Cape May County Art League's Annual House Tour, June 28-30. the Hereford Lighthouse Restoration Committee, Phyllis Catanoso, chairman, has announced a special event scheduled June 29. A tour of the historic Hereford Lighthouse and Museum will be conducted 4 to 7 p.m., with refreshments included. Admission is by ticket only, with proceeds for the Hereford Lighthouse Restoration Fund.
