First 65 Go to Camp For

DEL HAVEN - Once again the Cape Express Soccer Hub, in conjunction with the Lower Township Recreation Department, is pleased to bring to our area the Pat O'Maliey Soccer Day Camp for youth ages 7-15; This year, camp will run from July 29 though Aug. 2, at the Cape Express "home" soccer fields, county park south, Bayshore Road, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Tuition remains the same, $65 per camper (additional family members are $60 each), which includes a soccer ball, camp shirt, patch, and insurance coverage. Camp director is Mr. Pat O'Maliey, a certified coach by the United States Soccer Federation, selected All Conference Coach of the Year and named New York State Coach of the Year in 1979. youth and coaches clinics throughout the Northi eastern. A former player from the Republic of Ireland's Junior League, O'Maliey is currently in his seventh season as head soccer coach at Mercy College, New York. He will be assisted, by U.S. licensed college and high school coaches and experienced college players,, in giving Individual instruction in soccer fundamentals, rhythm and coordination, l

Law's Is Double Winner CAPE MAY - Law's Printing won both of its games in city's National Softball League as it defeated Carlos O'Brien's 7-0 and Doc's Custard 4-3. In the shutout win, John Vogel had four hits, John Fuller had three hits and Rich Keenan had a 3- run homer. Winning pitcher Ted Ferrante threw a 4-hitter. Clutch hitting by John Fuller. Ferrante and Carl Umscheid led Law's in the win over Doc's Custard. Doc's Custard defeated Midas Muffler earlier in the week 6-3 behind 2-hit performances by Kevin Boyle, Rick Rhinesmith and Joe Ruhe. CAPTAIN SIG'S defeated the Bayshore Lounge 21-4 with offensive standouts including Bill Soper, who went 4-4 with 4 runs scored, Glen Reagon. who had three hits and three runs scored. Rick Hawley, who had four hits and three runs scored and Mike SUnbach, who had two hits and two runs scored. Midas Muffler won its third game of the season as it defeated Bayshore Lounge 5-2 as Tony Finocchiaro had two hits and two runs scored. Soccer Camp on In July ERMA - Under the sponsorship of the City of Cape May, Star Soccer Academy, formerly Fever Soccer Camps, will conduct, for the fifth consecutive year, a soccer day camp at the Richard M. Teitelman School, Erma here. July 8-12. Star Soccer Academy day camps will include five days of instruction, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m., for boys and girls 6 through V7. The academy is under the direction of USSF "A" license and national staff coach Skip Roderick, and captain of the Baltimore Blast, Dave Mac Williams. Skip, a former professional soccer player in the ASL, NASL, and MISL, is currently head soccer coach at Elizabethtown College. THE COACHING staff features many of their former professional teammates. Many of these players are looking for families to house them for the week. In return, camp tuition will be free to children of the first eight interested families. The tuition will include a soccer ball, a Patrick soccer jersey, camper insurance, special camp awards, soccer films, camp posters, Gatorgum, a USSF soccer patch, "wet energy" drink, and a soccer skills manual. SIC to Hold Lifeguard Tryouts SEA ISLE CITY - The city's beach patrol will hold its annual try-out competition 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Beach Patrol Headquarters, 44th and the Beach, according to an announcement by Captain Stu Bakely. "This tryout is for persons interested in becoming members of the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol," Bakely stated. "Successful applicants will be invited to attend our rookie school for training." "We invite all interested persons to be on hand June 8," Bakely stated. For further information contact Beach Patrol Headquarters, 44th and the Beach or call 263-3655. Basketball Clinics Set AVALON - The recreation department will offer the Les Burke Summer Baksetball Clinic this summer. The clinics will be held daily 12-3 p.m. in the air conditioned Avalon Community Hall. August 5-9 is for boys 9-18, Aug. 12-16 for girls 9-18. Burke, the former head basketball coach at Spring Garden College, compiled a 148-74 record in 10 winning seasons. He has just completed his fourth consecutive winning season at LaSalle, where his teams have compiled a 50-14 record in the Catholic League North Division. A typical day at camp includes: strength and agility exercises, station drills, guest speakers (coaches, all star college and high school players). CAPE MAY — In the American Softball League, The Press defeated T.M.U. 9-8 as the winning team scored eight runs in the last inning. The Press got two-

hit performances from Scott Novick. Dave Kendrick and Steve Jungwirth. In other games, the U.S.C.G. Bears remain undefeated by defeating T.M.U. 14-0.
