By Libby Demp Forrest FLAG DAY AND FATHER S DAY are ■ the biggies on this weeks calendar. Flag H Day is public; Father's Day is private. On June 14, 1777 the Continental Con- ■ gress adopted a design for a flag, which is I the basis of all later American flags : thir- ■ teen stars and stripes, one for each of the I original states. The last time a star was added to our I flag was on July 4, 1960, the fiftieth star I for Hawaii. * • • Father's Day is the day to do something I special for dear old dad. If your far away I from him on Father's Day, bet he'd apI predate a nice card or a telephone call. • • * Lowell wrote of June days as rare days, I perfect days. For him, these perfect days I were made up of blue sky, bright sunI shine, warm air, and green leaves. .That I discription is still as good as ever . Nature I hasn't improved on what is one of the best H months of the year. ■ Yes, we are "knee deep in June" this week. Summer is nigh and getting better ■I each day. • • * M There is a fresh green cloak on the [I landscape — a green still vivid with spr- ■ ing's growth. Ahhhh, take a breather for I a moment or two and enjoy this good I month. v ■ • • • Here are some distinguished local I restaurants where dining remains H unsurpassed: r ■ PETER SHIELDS.
