COURT HOUSE - A memorial grave marking ceremony for Mrs. Palmer M. Way Sr., former state regent, was held recently by Cape May Patriots Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. A marker was placed on the grave in the Baptist Cemetery here. Preceding the ceremony, members of the chapter were guests at a luncheon given by Mrs. Robert E. Kay, Mrs. Way's daughter, in Wildwood Crest. MRS. WAY had served the chapter as historian, recording secretary, chaplain, and regent, with a total of 18 years in elective office. In the New Jersey State Society she had been chairman of Motion Pictures and DAR War Service Units. She served as State Vice Regent and State Regent, and was named an ..honorary State Regent. \r In her home town of North Wildwood she was president of the board of education for 18 years. She was also president of the Wildwood Women's Club, and was Junior Councilor and Second District Advisor of Juniors in the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs. MRS. WAY was the county Red Cross chairman of Hospital Services and worked as a Gray Lady in the General Thomas England Army Hospital in Atlantic City during World War II. In 1933 she was local chairman of the March of Dimes and vice president of the County Chapter of the Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. She was a member of the Cape May County and New Jersey Historical Societies. She was appointed by two New Jersey governors as a member of the advisory council of the State Museum. She was vice president of the board of visitors at the Vineland Training School, and a member of the board of governors at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. She was affiliated with other patriotic societies, including the New Jersey Daughters of Colonial Wars, Pennsylvania Chapter of Colonial Daughters of the Seventeenth Century, and the New Jersey Society of the Colonial Dames of America.
