4-H Club Prog ress Detailed

WILDWOOD - Accomplishments by the 4-H program in this area in the three years have been listed by Larry Rick Wilson Sr.. Rutgers Community Assistant. who was hired by Rutgers University's Cook College in February, 1982. to work here. In his first year, 1982, three clubs were formed, the Planters, the Farmers, and the Nature Club. All meet one day per week. A 4-H Awards dinner was held that year involving 55 children from the Wildwood area.

THE FRUIT Club was formed in West Wildwood in 1983. The North Wildwood Gardenside. where children grow their own vegetables, also was established in 1983 All the clubs participated in nutrition classes, food, arts, crafts, and' cooking classes, with approximately 175 children involved in the after-school activities. The Senior Citizens Tomato Plant Giveaway, in which the children grew plants for needy families, was set up in 1984. That year, all 4-H clubs of Wildwood received awards for their garden at

the Lock wood 4-H Center- I The group had a Washing- I ton, D.C.. trip in March, I with 94 persons participa- I ting. It also marked the 3rd I Nutrition Anniversary, in- I volving 125 persons A club formed this year I under the direction of volun- I teer Jauzell Dozier. "The I Growing Young Men's I Club", is learning nutrition 1 and cooking skills under I Wilson. Aerobicise Classes Set CAPE MAY — Aerobic classes will be part of its city's summer recreation schedule. Intermediate Aerobicise will be an aerobic class designed for the intermediate student and will take place 8:30-9:30 a.m. and Wednesday at the Franklin Street Civic Center. Coed Aerobicise is an aerobic class designed for men and women to take place 7-8 p.m. Fridays, also at the Franklin Street center. Both classes are taught by Jeanne Monge.
