Middle Township Gala Slated July 16
- COURT HOUSE - Middle Township's Third Annual Independence Day Celebration is scheduled for _ July 6 at the Goshen Sports Complex, announces Middle _ League Summer Classes CAPE MAY — A series of summer workshops and classes has been announced by the Cape May County Art League. 1050 Washington St.. beginning Saturday, offering a wide range of activities. Among the activities planned are: Botanical Garden Drawing Workshop with Mary Federiei at Learning's Run Shore Road (Route 91. Swainton. is scheduled for Saturday and June 26. . Wednesday, from 9:30 to 12:30 each day Botanical Garden Multimedia Painting Workshop _ at Learning's Run is scheduled for July 17. Wednesday, and July 20. Saturday. 9:30 to 12:30. Participants must bring their own materials and it is . suggested to bring a lunch. Those who wish to carpool can meet at the Art League and go from there. To preregister call 884-8628 CREATIVE ART Work shop for Kids 9 to 13 Satur- ' days from 10:30 to noon. Kids bring their own materials and express themselves under the supervision of Ann Marie . Township Commissioner Charles Leusner. This year's theme, "Heritage Day", will focus on this areas Indian heritage. Indian dance, artifacts and crafts will be featured. There will also be family oriented events, games, a Phillies Home Run Derby, a concert and fireworks at dusk. THE PHILLIES Home Run Derby is being held in the afternoon for children 6 to 14 and registration will be held that day. Recreation Director Greg Arnold has many games and activities planned for young and old. Fire engine rides, horse and buggy rides, "Most Perfect Beard" contest are included. A country and western concert will be given by the Kentucky Dave Band starting at 6 p.m and lasting until the fireworks begin. Leusner said, "I expect this to be the bigest and best Independence Day Celebration we have ever had. We are really going out of our way to make this a family day for our residents to enjoy." SINCE NO tax dollars are used to pay for the celebration. the Recreation Department and the Optimist Club are holding a raffle to raise money. This year, the top prize is a trip for two to the Orange Bowl Football Classic in Miami. Fla. The winner will receive round trip air transportation from Newark, two nights' accomodations in the Miami Hyatt, two tickets to the Orange Bowl, and two tickets to the Orange Bowl Art Workshop Slated in July CAPE MAY - Watercolorist Marian Simpson of Vestal.
