ACC to Warm Up New Center
RIO GRANDE - Atlantic Community College's new Cape May County Extension Center opens June 29 with an open house and classroom warming party for the public. The center, which is located in the new Village CCC Offers 3 Courses To Gifted VINELAND - Cumberland County College will offer three special courses this summer for gifted and talented students, grades 7 through 12 in conjunction with ROGATE (Resources Offered in Gifted and Talented Education), a statewide program for gifted students. Introduction to Computers and Beginning BASIC will be conducted June 24 through 28 from 9 a.m. to noon. The course will stress how the computer works and an introduction to algorithms and flowcharting will be offered. ALSO COVERED will be computer operation and input/output commands. This course is designed for students who have no computer experience. Intermediate BASIC with Computer Graphics will be held July 8 through 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. A review of IfThen statements, the GOSUB command and shape tables will be featured. Students enrolling in this course must have a knowledge of BASIC language through decisions and looping. THE HUMAN Body will be conducted July 15 through 19 from 9 a.m. to noon. Topics covered will include organ structures, the nervous systems, the circulatory system and genetics. Students may sign up for these courses in the college Records Office. If no college credit is desired, there is an $100 fee for each course. To receive one college credit upon successfuly course completion, students may ^ . pay $131 per course. Turner of this borough was one of 250 leaders of the accounting profession to attend the recent Ameri-can-Institute of Certified Public Accountants Council meeting in Scottsdale, Ariz. The council directs the activities of the AICPA, the national professional organization of over 235,000 certified public accountants Turner, who was elected to serve on the AICPA Council for a three-year term, is a partner is the firm Turner, Stauffer St Co.. The AICPA sets auditing standards, enforces a code of professional ethics, prepares and grades the uniform CPA examination and provides comprehensive continuing education program for its members. Shoppes Mall on Rio Grande Boulevard near Route 9. will enable the college to offer more services to county residents than the previous facility on Main Street, Court House. THE OPEN House program includes free blood pressure screenings by students in ACC's Nursing Program 10 a.m. to 2 p.m Demonstrations of vegetable carving, pastry preparation and tableside cooking will be provided by Academy of Culinary Arts students 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Demonstrations in the center's new computer lab
will be provided from noon until 2 p.m. and from 3 to 5 p.m. by Computer Science Program faculty. Visitors are invited to try out the computers and software themselves. MEMBERS OF the faculty, administration and student services department will be available to welcome guests and answer questions. ACC is a comprehensive two-year college serving the residents of Atlantic and Cape May Counties. It currently has an enrollment of about 4,000 students, with 900 of them Cape May County residents.
