Builders Sweep 3 Games

CAPE MAY — Burke Builders won all three of their games to remain in first place in the city's National Softball League. Five hits from Ken Johnson along with a four-hit performance from Ron Denny led Burke's to a 24-10 win over Captain Sig's. Johnson came back with four hits to lead his team to a 154) shutout over Bayshore Lounge. Three hits by Chuck Matthews also keyed Burke's victory. Burke Builders ended the week with a 14-13 win over Carlos O'Brien's. Picnic Held For Soccer Leaguers BELLEPLAIN - The Dennis Township Recreation Committee sponsored an awards picnic at Belleplain State Park June 1 for all of the Cape May County Soccer League players, coaches, and their families. ■ There were over one hundred people in attendance. Each soccer player as well as the coaches received a plaque in appreciation of their efforts for a .successful season. THE COMMUTE extended thanks to the ■ coaches, Bob Kerr, Roy April, Gary Erickson, and Robbie Gurdgeil for their time and dedication. A special thanks went to Michelle Heim. August 5-9 is for boys 9-18. August 12-16 is for girls 9-18. Les Burke, the former head basketball fc'oach at Spring Garden College, compiled a 148-74 record in 10 winning seasons. He has just completed his fourth consecutive winning season at LaSalle, where his teams have compiled a 50-14 record in the Catholic League North Division The primary objective of this clinic is to teach the fundamentals of basketball on an individual level.
