To Study At Duke A Term
GREENVILLE, S C. - Melanie F. Colson, a Furman University student from Stone Harbor, will study marine biology at Duke University this fall as a participant in a cooperative program between the two schools. Ms. Colson, who will spend the fall term study-
ing at Duke and then return to Furman for the winter and spring terms, is the first Furman student to take part in the cooperative program. She is a rising senior majoring in biology. MS. COLSON. a 1982 graduate of Wiidwood High School, is a Dean's List student and a member of the
women's field hockey club. She has volunteered in Furman's Collegiate Educational Service Corps working with handicapped and underprivileged in the surrounding community, and also in the Raptor Institute, a nonprofit organization managed and staffed by Furman students working closely with the Greenville Humane Society in the rehabilitation of injured birds of prey. She is the daughter of Frank and Carmen Colson of 10115 Sunrise Dr.. Stone Harbor.
