The musical group "The Browns" was responsible for making the "Beef and Bev&rage Night" sponsored by the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 198 June 15, a great success. "The Browns" are a husband and wife musical team who play the organ and accordian. Roy Brown is 78 years old and his wife Ethel is 76. These two Court House senior citizens are still very active and are helping to make others happy. The couple has also been playing at the Cape May Care Center; Crest Haven ; fashion shows at the Atlas, Top of the Marq, and Urie's Reef & Beef; and at political functions for both the Democratic and Republican parties. Sandra McKinley and Penny Powders were the co-chairpersons of the two week Traveling bookmobile fundraising event which ended June 1. The PTA-sponsored event sold $3,600 worth of bodes and earned itself $1,080 in profits. The money will be used to buy things for the township's elementary schools. Township Clerk George Simpkins and Committeeman Charles Leusner attended the open house at the Seaville Welcome and Information Center June 20. The special guest was Miss Cape May County, Kathy Adams. The event was held in celebration of the opening of the newly renovated center.

MTHS STUDENT Allison Harvey was honored by township committee with a resolution commending her for her exemplary achievements and publicly recognizing her hard work and dedication in the field of medicine, June 6. During the Middle Township Science Fair, Allison received a gold medal in the category of medicine for her project entitled "Use of Equine Amnion as a Burn Wound Dressing." She went on to win the "Overall Trophy" in the local science fair, a gold medal at the Stockton State Scieiw Fair, a gold medal and bronze medal overall at the* Benjamin Bannekar Science Fair at the Philadelphia College of Science and Pharmacy. Allison qualified for and attended the International Science Fair in Shreveport, LA, as an alternate in May. DOLLY DOHERTY was the announcer at the Elementary School 1 Spring Coucert, May 21. Selections performed by the Music Enrichment Students were "Happy Springtime Day" and "Heroes." The accompanist was Penny Powders. Nicole Schubert, and Christopher Winter who played the Pied Piper. The costumes were made by Virginia Svard. Irene Cohen, and Tammy Winter. The artwork was done by Donna Bender, and programs were prepared by Grace Williams. Margaret Campbell is the school's music teacher. Charlotte Harmon is Elementary School 1 principal. Jaimie Startare of Dias Creek and Lolli Rea of i West Cape May are representing the county this week as 4-H ambassadors (teen group) in Washington. D C. with feBow 4-H members from throughout the United States. They are using the nation's capital as their classroom to find out how government works and how to be active and effective community leaders. THE MIDDLE Township High School Spring Concert I was held in the auditorium at Elementary School 3, in May. The Stage Band under the direction of Richard Ludwig played. The Advanced Choir under the direction of Gladys Lauriello sang. The Percussion Ensemble under arranger Dane DuFour and the Honors Band under Ludwig played. The Concert Choir, also under the direction of Lauriello, with accompanist Lee Ann Mcllvaine. sang. Ted Johnson played the drums. The Concert dl Band under the direction of

i Ludwig also performed. BARBARA SMITH was . the Elementary School 3 . winner of the 1983 South Jersey and Delaware Valley Spelling Bee sponsored by the Philadelphia Inquirer earlier this year. She was a student in Barbara Hall's fifth grade class during the past academic year. The school's guidance counselor, Chris Gavula. coordinated this contest. The Middle Township Chamber of Commerce donated $200 to the local July 4th Celebration. The 4-H Queen- and Contestants Reception will take place July 10 at the organization's Court House headquarters. All contestants will meet officers (Page 26 Please)
