Pinelands: More Time For Input NEW LISBON - The Pinelands Commission has extended the period for public comment on recommended changes to the Pinelands Comprehensive Management Plan until July 12. The commission will hold another public hearing on these proposed changes 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 8. at the Winslow Township Municipal Building. Route 73. Braddock. ANYONE WHO would like a summary of the changes being proposed to the Comprehensive Management Plan by the Commission's Plan Review Subcommittee may obtain a copy by writing to the Pinelands Commission office. P.O. Box 7, Springfield Road, New Lisbon, N.J. 08064. Anyone interested in giving testimony at the July 8th hearing may register by calling the Pinelands Commission office at 894-9342 or sign up at the hearing.

70-Pound Drum Takes Trophy
VILLAS — A 70 pound black drum and a 14 pound weakfish took top honors in. the 1985 Lower Township Chamber of Commerce Drumfish-Weakfish Derby, according to Stu Millard, chamber president. More than 400 fishermen participated; 300 more than last year. Jack Septak of 631 Lafayette Ave.. Trenton, caught the first place drum on the "Miss Chris II" out of Cape May Inlet. He was using a bucktail when the big fish picked up the lure For his contest success, Septak will receive a $250 cash prize and a trophy His name will be engraved on a permanent plaque to be displayed at the Lower Township Hall. Leon Signs, of Hillboro, Pa., won the weakfish division with his 14 pound weakfish Signs caught his fish on the "Happy Days" out of Ocean Drive Dock. He. too. will receive $250 and a trophy His name will also be inscribed on a plaque to be kept at Township Hall. Other winners in the black drum division included Doug Bright, of Court House. 2nd place with a 68 pound drum ; and F Ascoli. of Wildwood Crest with a 60 pound drum; Joe Ferri. of Philadelphia, with a 58 pound drum; and Mike Brocco. of Tabernacle with a 56' 2 pound drum Other winners in the weakfish division included John Morgan, of Philadelphia and Luis Roig of Town Bank who tied for second place with a 13 pound weakfish. Third place had three winners tied with 123. pound weakfish. They were Charles Geddes. of Palmyra. Len Walsh of South River, and Edward Miller of Philadelphia. Fourth place went to Phil Appenzeili of Philadelphia with a 12 pound 6 ounce weakfish. Fifth place was shared by three anglers; Duane Jones of Rio Grande; Paul Adler of North Cape May; and Shirley Moore of Cape May. Each weighted in 12 pound 2 ounce prizewinning weakfish. Second through fifth place winners will receive tackle prizes.
Winners were notified by mail about the awards event Monday. Mayor Robert Fothergill presented the awards and recognized Millard for his effort. In announcing the winners, Millard expressed appreciation from the chamber to all who assisted in making the annual tournament a success. The chamber plans to enlarge the fishing tournament for 1986 and future years. Annual awards will be recorded on a plaque in Township Hall
