There is no such thing as I free money if you are a municipality. Council last week increased the city's i bonded indebtedness by i $92,250. The sum pays for i legal and engineering expenses connected with a $500,000 grant received from the state's Small Cities Program to pay for relocation of a 100-year-old sewer line in the bed of Columbia Avenue in the heart of the historic district. BIDS ON the care and service of city trees will be opened at a special meeting of City Council on July 15, at 10:30a.m.. in Ci16 at SJCA Named to Honor Roll L ERMA — Sixteen South Jersey Christian Academy students were named to the academic Honor Roll for the final marking period of the 1984-85 school year. Earning position on the Distinguished Honor Roll, reserved for students with "A's" in all subjects were: Third graders Kristie Woods. Brooke Roberts, Laurie Evoy, and Scott Harrison; and fourth graders Charissa Ricketts and Kerry Woods. Those on the Distinguished Honor Roll maintained grades of 94 per cent or better. TEN STUDENTS garnered spots on the "A-B" Honor Roll by maintaining grade averages of 86 per cent or better. They are: Third graders Douglas Canova, Karl Herman. Michael Todd, and Amy Reichle; fourth graders Cory Brant, Nathan Douglass, and Thomas Hargest . and sixth graders Heather O'Neal, Heather Harrison, and Julie Esher. Students in grades three through seven are eligible for Honor Roll honors at SJCA. South Jersey Christian Academy is a K-8 Christian day school located in the Tabernacle Church Complex here. There are currently classroom openings at all grade levels. Meetings Off Lower Township Federation of Senior Citizens meetings for July and August are cancelled. Next meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 19.

Council last week awarded a contract of $31,171.92 to Barry Harper, trading as AVP Roofing & Sheet Metal Co.. Wildwood. to install a new hot roof and renovate the auditorium skylight. The contract breaks down into $19,600 for a fiveply fiberglass roof, and $11,571.92 for the skylight. The black paint will be removed from the skylight and six electrically operated Andersen smoked glass windwos with screens will be installed. The work carries a 20-year guarantee. City Manager Fred Coldren said after the first phase of renovations are complete, work will begin on creation of additional conference rooms, the cleaning up of existing conference chambers, and installation of new carpets. COUNCIL has approved an application for a transit trolly driver's license for Edwin G. Aikin. Aikin, an employe of Five Mile Beach Bus Co., will operate a motorized jitney that will run along Beach Avenue this summer. THE CITY'S beach tractor and sanitizer began preparing beaches for the summer season in May. One Hundred and sixteen hours were) spent on the project at a cost of $1,002.15. THe city's Public Works Department reports that $9^94.35 in labor and materials have been spent so var this year on beach cleaning. JERRY INDERWIES. assistant superintendent. Department of Public Works, says city workers are handling an unusually heavy amount of trash from public trash containers because householders are using the containers to dump garbage. THE WASHINGTON Street Mall, the promenade. streets in the business district, and public restrooms are all being cleaned seven-days a week, Inderwies reports. "We are now able to clean the promenade's entire length each day," said Inderwies. Inderwies said several large opening in the Cape Island drainage pipe cannot be repaired because they are continually filled with water. The problem has been referred to the County Engineer.

The changes wars proposed to become effective for service rendered on or after November 1 , 1984 as to the Company's Cape May Division, and on or after July 1, 1984 for the balance of the Company s ser^On'AprSTs and August 22, 1984 the Board Issued orders suspending the effectiveness of the proposed revised tariff sheets. By Decision and Order dated February 27, 1985 the Board approved a rate Increase for the Company of $2,991,000, of the $14.1 million requested In the petition.
