Flag Pole Dedicated In Avalon AVALON — Community members and guests gathered July 4 at the 30th Street entrance here to participate in the dedication of their new 50-foot flag pole The flag pole project, which in addition to the aluminum pole also includes three new flags representing Avalon, New Jersey and the United States, was funded completely by borough citizens, businesses and organizations. Mayor Rachel H. Sloan praised the community effort. saying. "Everyone participating in this worthwhile effort should be proud and honored. This pole and its flags belong to the people of this community. without whose hard work and patriotic spirit this would not have been possible." County Freeholder William Sturm was guest speaker. Sloan thanked the citizens for their help and generosity and praised ' borough Engineer A1 Her- J man.
