THE PORT NORRIS [i command does receive 0 assistance from other det partments 1 Sea Isle City Police Chief Carl Gansert said that while his department usually turns calls from neighboring I Strathmere to Port Norris. his officers do go into the ; Upper Township resort on a » case-by-case basis, i "In a case of a motor veI hicle accident, we will go in I there and direct traffic until the state police arrive. We've had officers go in there and administer oxy- ! gen to someone who was i sick, and if there's a fight or a car hot-rodding around, we'll go in and break it up before somebody gets hurt . ' ' he said. However, Gansert lets his officers decide if they want to answer calls in Strathmere Since the resort is not in their jurisdiction. Sea Isle police are not insured when in Strathmere. Because the question of liability is unsettled. Gansert gives eaeh of his officers the option. STATE POLICE from the Hammonton station in Atlantic* County also assist in covering the area.
