Lions Aid McDowell

CLERMONT - Mark McDowell, 5. was presented with a $500 check by the Stone Harbor Lions Club at its regular June meeting. Mark underwent surgery at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia this spring to correct a lazy eye condition. The money is to help his family to defray the $3,000 cost of the operation.

The check was presented to Mark's father, Robert McDowell, by Ted Roman, zone chairman and past president of the Stone Harbor Lions Club. Roman said the funds came from the club's fundraising activities, such as car raffles and spaghetti dinners. The club also sponsors the Helen L. Diller vacation home for blind children in Avalon. and assists needy individuals with eye problems. Mark is the son of Robert and Linda McDowell, and has two younger brothers and a younger sister. Mark will begin school in the fall. Miniature Golf Slated AVALON — A miniature golf tournament will be held by the recreation department 10 a.m. tomorrow.
