Bears Perch Atop American League

CAPE MAY - The U.S.C.G. Bears remained in first place in the city's American Softball League as they won 3 of 4 games this past week. After defeating T.M.U., Charlie's Place and Kindle Ford, the Bears lost to The Press 5-1. The Press was led by Ken Larricks, who had 3 hits, while John Lambert had 2 RBI's. The Press also defeated Cape Radiology 10-2, led by Bob Foltz, who had 3 hits, and Walt Hartem, who had 2 hits and 3 RBI's. LATER IN the week, the Press defeated the Coasties 6-4 as it got three hits from Bob Foltz, Hartem and Steve Jungwirth. Cape Radiology defeated All Medical Supply 13-6 as Frank Finley had a home run and 3 RBI's. In other scores, the U.S.C.G. Regatta AVALON - A Recreation Department Catamaran Regatta is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start Saturday. Sailers can register at Community Hall in advance or beginning at 9:30 a.m. the day of the race on the 44th Street beach. There will be three categories of boats. 14', 16' and 18'. Entry fees are required. T-shirts will be given to all entries.
