Chapter Openings For Vietnam Vets

Are there 10 more Vietnam era veterans out there who haven't yet joined the South Jersey Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America? The chapter has 25 members and needs 35 for a state charter. Annual dues are $14. 1 It meets the first Monday of every month and the next session is Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. in the Upper Township Rescue Squad Building in Petersburg. The 'Vietnam era" is defined as from August 1964 to May 1975. Fliers announcing the meeting asked Viet vets: "Are you employed, are you satisfied with your GI Bill, do you or have you had problems dealing with the VA. do you feel Vietnam veterans have been accorded the same respect as veterans of other wars, are you interested in seeing Vietnam veterans take their place in American society?

Officers are: President. Gary J. Hartenstine; vice president, B J. Rasmussen; secretary. Lewis C. Kishpaugh; treasurer. Jim Flanagay. William E. Everet is chairman of the board of directors. Tax Slice For Vets, Spouses COURT HOSE - Recent ly enacted legislation provides that senior citizens, disabled persons, and their surviving spouses entitled to a $250 property tax deduction may also receive an additional $50 deduction, points out G.R. Brown III. county tax administrator. The extra $50 deduction is available to veterans and surviving spouses of veterans and service persons. Those who are eligible for the deduction should contact the collector of their taxing district for claim forms and additional information, says Brown, warning that claim forms must be submitted prior to Sept. 31 this year to qualify for the 1985 tax year.
