Promenade Show Winning Artists
CAPE MAY - The 1985 Promenade Art Show played host to nearly 90 artists from all over the East Coast, Florida and Texas. Three days of beautiful weather and the quality work of the participating artists attracted a record number of art-lovers. Mrs. Mary Joyce, in her 50th year as general chairman, presented ribbons and cash awards to the artists at Convention Hall. Kathy Keane Mason from West Chester, Pa. won the award for "Best of Show" and Jimmy Marsden of North Cape May captured First Place in the Youth Division. Carving Featured At Hall CAPE MAY - The 10th Annual Waterfowl and Woodcarving Show sponsored by the city will be held 6-10 p.m., Friday 10 a.m.-lO p.m. and Saturday in Convention Hall. Fifty-four wood carvers from the eastern and northeastern portions of the United States have already registered for the two-day show and sale. Highlights will include carving demonstrations, a duck head carving contest, and a floating bird competition. A PANEL of experienced judges will pre judge and subsequently award tropies for Best of Show, Best Overall Exhibit, Best Floating Decorative, and the George B. Stiles, Sr. Memorial Duck Head Award. Additionally, first, second, and third place ribbons will be presented to the best exhibits in twelve categories. Admission is free. July 30. at the Chalfonte Hotel. Howard Street, as part of its Concerts by Candlelight series.
