Ran into Ruthie and Ernie Blair, who run the annual arts and crafts show under the big top at 80th Street and the beach, sponsored by the municipality. The crafts show is all sold out and only six frames remain for the art show within the colorful tent. The Blairs are both pleased because more Stone Harbor merchants are participating than in any previous year. These shows are known country-wide and draw enormous crowds. Nationally prominent artists exhibit hot only to increase their prestige but because the monetary awards are substantial. This year the art show has again been chosen to bestow the "Cape May County Cultural and Heritage Commission Award" in the amount of $250. Total awards amount to $1,150. JUDGING WILL be done by Chester County watercolorist Pearl Slobodian. who has held more than 50 one-person shows and still attends workshops with artists Edgar Whitney, Carolyn Wyeth, Zoltan Azabo, Rex Brandt and John Pike. The other, Michael P. Rocco, studied under John McCoy at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Art show opens Saturday and craft show Sunday. Both shows run from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days. It's coolest and least crowded in early morning but to really enjoy them wear light clothing, low heels and allow plenty of time. ^ CATERING I TO YOU ;
Remember, the whole town will be crowded, because there is no admission charge and there will be many "just lookers". Make reservations ahead for accommodations and meals where possible. WE ALL KNOW about Stone Harbor's woeful parking situation. Everybody blames every body else. Audrey Hardy, who serves on the parking commission, drives around at all hours of the day and night seeking answers. If you think of a solution, reach her; she'll really listen to your idea. We drive around a bit ourselves and were infuriated to see a rustcolored BMW bearing PA license tag HHF-121 parked almost directly in front of the Em jay shop at 95th and Second Avenue. This is one of the town's most prestigious stores. Merchants and builders in that block have spent much time and money making this area one of the resort's most attractive. How disgusting to see it look like a used car lot! The car was not parked illegally and when the person responsible for it was politely requested to move it, she answered in most ungracious terms. It was moved after "at least two weeks", according to Pat and Vince Egan, owners of Em jay. Whether it was moved voluntarily remains open to question but we suggest j Borough Council move fast to prevent any recurrence or such misuse of permissible parking. MISSED OUT on one of the elegant dinner parties of the year. Elegant isn't quite the word. Sumptuous is more like it, because guests were asked to dress informally. It was the annual Crab Lobster Dinner and Fashion Show at Stone Harbor Yacht Club. Food and fun were accented. Fashion show was put on by Cross Country and Jean (Mrs. Wiley) Christie gave the running commentary. Music for dancing was supplied by the Village Four. The repast was super! Each guest had a large broiled 2-lb. lobster following innumerable hors d'oevres including clams casino. Clothes were modeled by yacht club officers and

their wives and Gerry, who owns Andre's Hair Salon, styled all the models' hair "for free". Yup, she styles men's hair too. All outfits were the dernier cri (girls looked prettiest) in summer and fall attire. THE GLOSSIEST gaggle of gals wore glamorous ensembles, we were told by a pal who made the scene. Ultra-suede was the fabric for fall and Carolyn Waite was sensational in palest green, we hear. The K ok on os' party was simply swell (we gnashed our teeth when we heard that). Guests included: Herman and Ruth Kapp, Dick and Delores Reese,
Glenn and Ann Townley. Don and Virginia Shenneman. Everybody was celebrating John's appointment, by his fellow members, as chairman of the zoning board of adjustment. Former chairman Bob Wilson and his wife Romona, depart for warmer climes in October, John steps up and Jim Berger will serve as vice chairman. • • • As a long time believer in the late Marion Armacost's national "Save the Turtle Movement" we have wondered what happened to the "Turtle Crossing" (Page 42 Please)
