Lecture _ Topic Is Erosion STONE HARBOR - Beaches are dynamic, moving entities, changing in shape and position with every wave. Residents of the barrier beach islands should be especially concerned with this fact, and Dr. Robert M. Sorensen will address this topic in his lecture, "Beach Erosion at Stone Harbor: Why and What To Do About It". 8: 15 p.m. Saturday. Aug. 10 at the Wetlands Institute. Dr. Sorensen is a professor of Civil Engineering at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. and is actively involved in studies of coastal structure and shorelines stability, including the beach at Stone Harbor Point. IIE WILL begin his presentation with the film. "The Beach. A River of Sand", which will introduce terminology and concepts and explore specific coastal processes. Dr Sorensen will then discuss the shore processes leading to the erosion of the beach south of 123rd Street in Stone Harbor and the attempts to solve the problem there. He will also discuss the plans for rebuilding the ; bulkhead/revetment next 'fall. Historical Society's Bus Trip COURT HOUSE - The Cape May County Historical Society is sponsoring a bus trip to historic Bridgeton Wednesday. Sept, 25. The bus will depart the County Museum on Rte 9 here at 8:30 a m and return at 6 p m After viewing a slide show at the Bridgeton Tourist Center the group will lake a sightseeing tour of Colonial. Federal, and Victorian architecture Included will be the Nail House Museum, which houses early iron and glass displays, the Old Broad Street Church, erected 1792. and thet Moore Mansion. Lunch will be available 1 at the Grand Old House A 1 stop at the George I Woodruff Indian Museum.
