r Church Buys Dem Clubhouse

COURT HOUSE - The Cape May Court House Church of Christ held its first service in the former county Democratic Party Clubhouse on Sunday. The 15-member congregation purchased the Pacific Avenue building for $101,000 from the party, according to preacher Tim Sensing. It's assessed at $101,400. The church previously met in the 4-H

building on South Dennisville Road. Pleas have been made to other Churches of Christ around the country for financial support. Sensing said. No major renovations will be made to the hall until finances become secure. Sensing said they will concentrate on putting some walls in the basement for six to eight classrooms and i

' making it more functional." Sen^ng said the church 9 is not looking to rent space, t but requests from groups r that rented before the pro- ; perty transfer, and from s new groups will be considered. •'ONE OF THJE REASONS we got the e building is to be able to r meet the community's

needs better," said Laura Sensing, his wife. "The Kiwanis Club has always rented (the building) but they didn't want to rent from us because we do not allow smoking," Sensing said. The Church of Christ in Vineland started the Cape May Court House Chapter, 1 according to Sensing, but he emphasized that all Churches of Christ are "self-ruled." Being a Christian by returning to New Testament Christianity is the basic plea of the congregation. according to Sensing. This is done by following the Bible as the only creed and Christ as the only head of the church. SOME OF THE ministries the church offers include: home Bible studies, benevolence and counseling services, children's classes, and Bible Correspondence Courses. "Worship begins on Sunday with Bible classes for adults and children at 9 a.m. and the service at 10 a.m. On Wednesday nights at 7 p.m., small discussion groups investigate topics that affect daily living. Sensing said the congregation plans to have an open house Sept. 13-15 with a seminar entitled "Families Can Be Fun."
