Avalon Continuing Surfing Contest

AVALON — The fourth \^eek of the borough's Recreation Summer Surfing contest saw 22 participants in surfboard, boogie board and knee board competition. This event is for an accumulation of points toward final placings in the end of August. Anyone interested in competing can still register 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays at at 30th Street and the beach. Hospital Tourney SOMERS POINT - This year's annual Shore Memorial Hospital Golf Tournament has been set for Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the Atlantic City Country Club. Sponsored by the Mainland Chapter of the hospital auxiliary, the event, which has been held for the past 25 years, features a new automobile as a hole-in-one prize. Play will begin from a shotgun start at noon at the championship layout at ACCC. Players will vie for a large number of prizes for men's and women's low gross, low net, closest to the pin performances and Calloway.

Tourney Set In Volleyball AVALON — The Recreation Department is sponsoring a co-ed volleyball tournament on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. Interested teams can sign up at the Community Hall — call 967-3066. United States Volleyball Rules are in effect throughout the tournament. At least two members of the opposite sex must be on the court at all times.
