Avalon Winners In Bell Memorial
AVALON — Winners in the Avalon Beach Patrol's 11th annual General E.V.H Bell Memorial Race held here July 29 have practically guaranteed their positions on the team that will represent the borough in the next Jersey Shore beach patrol races. Only a series of "rowoffs" schedule in Avalon during the next few weeks could jeopardize the E.V.H. Bell Memorial winners' positions. Men's Doubles Tourney Set STONE HARBOR - The recreation department is sponsoring a Men's Doubles Tennis Tournament Saturday. All entries are due at noon Friday at the 82nd Street office. First round play will begin at 11:45 on the starting date. Tennis balls will be supplied by the recreation department. Bears Top American j Softball CAPE MAY - The Coast Guard Bears won the regular season championship of the city Men's American Softball League will a 27-5 record. Charlie's Place finished in second place with a 25-7 record. These two teams occupied the top two positions all year. Cape Radiology and T.M.U. gained the last two playoff spots during the last week of the season. T.M.U. defeated Kindle Ford 3-1 to gain it's berth. Cape Radiology defeated Southern Jersey Airways 13-6 behind home runs by Wayne Ploucher and Mike Padden and All Medical Supply 10-2 as Tony «- Williams went 4-4 and Mark Cassidy went 3-4.
