Victorian Week 's 2 Fashion Shows
CAFE MAY - Two different fashion shows wj(l be held this year as part of the ten-day Victorian Week festival. Oct. 11-20 here. Sponsored by the MidAtlantic Center for the Arts, these events will be shown on the outdoor stage at the Kmlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St.. at 5 p.m. Oct. 12th and Oct. 19 They will be preceded by a Victorian I .awn Party on the grounds of the estate. Both fashion shows are offered' free of charge. A HIGHLIGHT of each show will be a raffle drawing for a piece of antique Victorian jewelry. Raffle tickets may be purchased at the Physick Estate any time up until the drawing. Insights into society's customs are illustrated by the showing of vintage clothing, many pieces from the 19th and early 20th Century collection of costumes belonging to the MidAtlantic Center for the Arts Roth weekends also highlight garments from private collections, new from last year and Tiever before seen in this area. THE FIRST show will focus on a wide range of Victorian era clothing from wedding gowns to bathing suits The second show will examine 100 years of fashion, starting with the Civil War years of the 1860s through the Edwardian times and moving into the more contemporary mode of dress of the 1960 s The narration focuses on the social circumstances as reflected in each costume, leaving a lasting artistic impression of how people lived in each period. He is currently participating in the MS Ugliest Bartender Contest. The contest is a summer fundraising program for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Greater Delaware Valley Chapter, that raises money for medical research and patient programs. A bartender gets voted in as ugliest by his patrons and friends. Each vote is 25 cenLs. The more votes he has. the uglier he is. The uglier he is the more help he is giving the MS Society. Ugly actually stands for Understanding. Generous. Lovably You. AF Band Due CAPE MAY - Arthur Doran, band concerts coordinator. announces that the Air Force Band of the East will appear in the bandstand. 8 p.m Friday. The concert will be moved to Convention Hall, at 7: 15 p.m in the event of inclement weather.
