Bulldogs Top Eagles

STONE HARBOR - The Girls Senior Basketball League closed out its season this past week. The Maroon Bulldogs are the 1985 champions with a win over the Gulden Eagles. Bulldogs powerhouse Audrey Coleman, league MVP. came out strong the second half scoring 11 out of her 13 points to lead the scoring /attack. The Bulldogs vfron 45 to 35. EARLY / IN the week playoffsl_started. The Bulldogs had an easy time over the Blue Hens, 46-16, but the Eagles had a tougher time getting to the championship game. The Green Waves played the toughest they have all

season but came out short in the end, losing 42-40. The Eagles' attack was spread out between all players. Leading all scoring was Jennifer Schider of the Green Waves with 16 points. Clamshell Pitching CAPE MAY - One of the area's most unusual sporting events occurs here Aug. 31 - Sept. 1. This year, as for the past 40, the International Clamshell Pitching Club of Cape May will hold its open championships. Commencing at 10 a.m. on Sieger's Beach, competition will be held in men's and women's singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. The game itself is somewhat a combination of quoits and horseshoes Two holes are dug in the hard sand (after the tide has ebbed) and. at a distance of 25'6" contestants try to toss their shells into or near the hole. Scoring is as in horseshoes except that "toppers" cancel out. »
