The Middle Township Ptfcflic School system will open its 1985/1986 school year Sept. 3 for its staff. Students will begin school Sept. 4 Elementary 1 and 3 students are to report at 9 a.m. Elementary 4 and High School students should report at 8 a.m. for a full day of instruction. New students are requested to register as soon as possible. Transportation pick-up sites will be the same as last year. If you are new to the district or have a question as to the pick-up site, call Paul Glenn at 465-9411. Extension 240. RETURNING students will experience many new faces, as will the teachers. There is a new guidance counselor at Elementary 4 and an additional viceprincipal at the high school. The new counselor's name is John Kaighn. The selection of the additional vice-principal will be made during the latter part of this week. There will also be a number of new faces among the faculty at the schools. The new school year promises to be a very busy one academically Computer education will be expanded and there will be a con certed effort from grades kindergarten through 12 to improve writing competency. Ninth graders will be required to take a new and difficult proficiency test that will determine their graduation status. Edmund Webb III was the guest speaker at the Clayton Kiwanis Club dinner/meeting Aug. 7 He told the club what the responsibilities and functions are of an active Key Club member He also spoke on the problem in the world such as famine and drug and alcohol abuse. Webb was elected as a trustee of Key Club Interh national last month at its annul convention. He is a junior and Key Club member at Middle Township High School Other MTHS Key Club bers in attendance were I.eeAnn Mclivaine. president; Rob Dean, vicei president . Sandy Williams. 1 treasurer; and Tracy \ Williams, member A JAY HERRON of Goshen / and Chris Leusner of Court ' House in the 8 to 9-year-old J group. Brian Leighton of Court House in the 10 to 12 group, and Richie Thomp■fi son of Court House in the 13 to 15 group competed in the Regional Finals of the j- Phillies Home Run Derby at Babe Ruth Field in Millville Aug. 13. The Middle Township youngsters won their right to participate in Millville by winning the Home Run Derby event at the goshen Road Sports Complex July - 6. I EIGHT .MEMBERS from the Court House Kiwanis Club attended the Wildwood Kiwanis Club dinner/meeting at the Mariner Inn Restaurant in Wildwood Crest Aug. 6. Vincent Changlin is cur-

rently the Court House Kiwanis Club's Inter-Club Chairman. Members of the Middle Township High School KeyClub raised $1,800 while operating the parking concessions at the County 4-H Club Fair July 18 to 20. The Key Club donated $915 to the County 4-H Club and kept the remaining $915 for itself from this fund raising project. A total of 1,800 cars was parked during the threeday fair. The Court House Kiwanis

Club is sponsoring a Baltimore Inner Harbor trip which includes round trip bus transportation and admission to the Aquarium on Sept. 7. The bus leaves Jamesway at 8 a.m. and returns at 8 p.m. Call 465-4331 for more information and reservations.
