< From Page 26 > local internalist and gastroenterologist, and president of the South Jersey Chapter of the American Cancer Soceity, was the guest speaker. Middle Township High School's Annual Freshmen Orientation Program will be held Thursday, Aug. 29, at the High School. All freshmen are expected to attend this very important program. The purpose of this program is to helpe ease the transition from eighth grade into high school and to give students and opportunity to meet their fellow classmates. There will be approximately 230 students in the school's freshmen class from Middle Township, Dennis Township, Avalon, and Stone Harbor. STUDENTS will be given welcoming and opening remarks by representatives from Student Activities and Affairs, Guidance Services, and the Athletic Program between 9 and 10 a.m. Between 10 and 10:30a.m. students will report to their homerooms and recieve their class schedules. At 10:30 a.m., students will have one-half hour to follow their schedules and find classrooms. Departure for home will take place at 11 a.m. ALL MIDDLE Township students should be at their assigned pick-up point by 8: 15 a.m. The bus numbers and their routes for Orientation Day are Bus A-14, which will go south on Route 9 into Whitesboro,
Edgewood and up to the light in Rio Grande, then return to the school. Bus A-20 will go out to Springer's Mill Road to Delsea Drive, south through Green Creek into Del Haven. Then back to Delsea Drive, south to Marlyn Manor, and return to the school. BUS A-25 will go north on Shore Road to Swainton (76 House) then return to the school. Bus A-26 will travel along Dias Creek Road to Delsea Drive, then north as far as Sluice Creek in Goshen. Then back down Delsea Drive across Goshen-Court House Road to the school. Students in Dennis Township, Avalon. and Stone Harbor should report to their respective schools by 8:30 a.m. They will be returned by 11:30 a.m. To answer questions concerning busing, call 465-9411, Ext. 240. THE RIO GRANDE Rescue Squad is holding its annual fund drive. Last year the squad responded to over 750 rescue calls. These runs total 2,300 men and women hours of which their volunteer members had to leave work, give up sleep, and other family life. This does not include the Walk For Life The Cape- Atlantic "Right to Life" organization is sponsoring a "Walk for Life" Saturday in Atlantic City. A bus will be provided. I THE ENTIRE Middle Township Key Club will attend a leadership training program at the Great Adventure amusement park Oct. 13. The Key Clubbers will attend classes for half the day and then spend the remaining portion of the day entertaining themselves in the park. • • • The Rio Grande Fire Co., is conducting its annual fund drive. Its cost of supplies and equipment along with its utility costs have risen sharply. The company has never used a tax dollor for any of the construction of its modern hall.
