' STONE HARBOR - The , New Jersey Travel and Tourism Department has — for the third straight year — awarded a matching grant of $2,470 for the upcoming' Third Annual New Jersey Wings 'N Water Festival to be held Sept. 21-22 in several resort towns throughout Cape May County. "The festival draws a faithful following from all over South Jersey," commented Cindy O'Connor, acting executive director of the Wetlands Institute. "But with the addition of the grant, we can now promote the festival to attract visitors from New York to Washington. D.C." THE $2,470 grant is part of an allocation of $250,000 earmarked this year for grants for special projects to promote tourism The grants are distributed through the state Division of Travel and Tourism of the Department of Commerce and Economic Development. The department has a total 1985 budget of $6.5 million to i promote travel and
s tourism in the Garden j State, and the state theme: s "New Jersey and You — t Perfect Together". Since the Wings ' N Water i .Festival began three years 1 ago, the state has awarded 1 p matching grant to help i attract visitors to the ext citing two-day festival that i benefits the Wetlands Institute. The Institute, a i non-profit organization I dedicated to promoting public understanding and concern for coastal life and f environments, is the headquarters for the festival, r THIS YEAR'S festival will feature some of the naI lion's best wildlife artists > and their works. Carvings of birds and decoys will be displayed by renowned l carvers, and more than 30 events and demonstrations . including wildlife exhibits, retriever demonstrations. I and a sunset cruise with i naturalists will offer visitors an array of activities during the annual event.
