Counselor Offers Help to Alcoholics
COURT HOUSE - Angie Philbin, certified alcoholism counselor at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, offers individual and group counseling to Ihose suffering from the disease of alcoholism. For those who have recently
completed alcoholism rehabilitation programs, she conducts a Personal Growth Group 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays. Thursday evenings she works with a Women's Group and is now planning sessions for couples. "The hospital has a real commitment to alcoholism services," relates Ms. Philbin. "As needs are identified, new programs are being developed." A counselor therapist with ten years of experience in her specialized field, Ms. Philbin assumed her responsibilities at Burdette in April. Besides counseling both in-patients and out-patients, she assists in crisis situations • involving substance abusers MS. PIIII.KIN received her training at the Rutgers University Alcohol and Drgg Program and the Trenton State Alcohol and Drug Program. Her experience includes seven years as an alcoholism counselor for the New Jersey Department of Health Residential Treatment Program. Starting Point, in Mt. Holly Ms. Philbin was the first woman in this state to work > in a social setting detox - ification program. Ms. Philbin was also a counselor therapist for the 28-day patient rehabilitation program at Riverside House in Philadelphia. Pa., for two years. She scried in the same capacity in the out-patient department of Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia for one year
