Women's Group Slates Directory

COURT HOUSE - The county's Advisory Commission on the Status of Women last week voted to compile a directory of women's groups and organizations that provide outreach and information and referral services. The commission adopted these two priorities from a list developed by the Human Services Advisory Council after a December. 1983, needs assessment survey. In adopting these guidelines, the commission decided not to do its own needs assessment. Members of the commission were assigned different parts of the county, which they will survey for women's organizations. Commission Chairman Barbara Chojnacki said the listing will include "traditional women's groups," but would not duplicate a similar directory prepared by First Call for Help, a United Way agency which maintains a 24-hour information and referral service. Chojnacki noted that, although the commission hasn't yet decided whether to focus on women's only groups or to include mixed groups with appeal to women, similar directories printed in other counties are limited to strictly women's groups.
