Here's Dolly By Dolly Stango

Coast Guard Officers' i Wives Club is giving a "Coffee" to new associate members. The "Coffee", given by Emily Band honors Dorothy Bowman, Linda Kupinski, Nancy Wisenaver and Dolly Stango, at 10 a.m. today — a warm way to greet the newcomers and make all feel welcome. Lenora Marino, owner of the Emporium Gift and Jewelery establishment on the Mall, was recently appointed on the board of directors at Dominican College, Westchester, N.Y. — also director of the Family Health Services operated by the Dominican Sisters of Charity. This is a double honor to go to just one person — surely none so deserving as Mrs. Marino. HONORS JUST come naturally to the family of Maureen and John Gaudiosi of Cape May and Burke, Va. Eldest son, John A. Gaudiosi. just 15 years of age, is on the staff of the Bishop Ireton newspaper, "Bi-Word" where in a recent issue he reviewed "Camelot", receiving front-page coverage. Aside, John writes poetry, most recently one entitled "Life" — it's difficult to believe a young man of only 15 is so knowledgable. He's over six feet tall, handsome, and his goal now is to be a doc.tor. Our best wishes to you, John — you're a winner! Then there's daughter, Letitia, — She's just in the

first grade going into second, and she, too, won honors for her paper on "the reasons why I love my Mommy" — "first of all, she brushes my hair every day before taking me to school. Then she buys and cooks all the things I like to eat" — etc. etc. Oh, there are more Gaudiosis — two more boys and one little girl, — five children in all. As to the writing, grandfather is Al Gaudiosi, well known for his writing for the Philadelphia Inquirer for years. That's talent by the family-load! Don't forget to attend the concert by Cape May's outstanding Macedonia Baptist Choir under the direction of Rev. Robert O. Davis, starting 8:30 p.m. tomorrow. CONGRATULATIONS: it's a boy! Parents are Bernadette and Ralph Atwell of Cape May — newborn is Kevin Joseph and has a sister and brother to make him welcome. • • • "Ye Olde Thrift Shoppe", located in the basement of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Cape May has many one-of-a-kind items... especially the Electric Stair-Glider for anyone handicapped or recuperating from an illness or fall where he or she can't climb stairs. It's in mind condition. Now that Halloween's coming up soon, there are lots of beautiful evening gowns, wigs and so many good-

looking winter coats. It warrants a trip... the shop is open Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. SCARCELY A week goes by that someone doesn't call or write me about Jamie Fiocca, Cape May's 13-year-old who entered everyone's heart with hislosing battle against acute leukemia. Jamie, who entered Children's Hospital in Philadelphia March 21, was coming through all the severest tests and even the bone-marrow transplant given by his 11-year-old brother, Andrew. Even with the times of high fevers, severe body sores and extensive bleeding from all parts of his body, — still, he was coming along — having the same results of the little 7 year old little girl near him in a room not too far away who eventually went home. Only Jamie, the last two weeks, took a nose dive... worsened and then again came up... and then the last week went into a coma, never to emerge again. It waS unbelievable. Even his doctors were shocked by the sudden upset. Grandmother, Mollie Kazlow, had stocked up on all of Jamie's choice dishes, — at his request, even bought him a new bathrobe properly initialed and was preparing a downstairs room in her house because it would be more convenient for Jamie at her home as she was there all the time while his

Mommy worked. So many of the goodies Jamie was expecting to eat while at Grandma's are still there... but Jamie never made it — surely a mystery, and the reason is still baffling. Here's a poem by Gladys Tobin of Cape May — entitled "Jamie"... "You took a part of all of us and yet you left so much. You showed a community how they should be "in touch" For the short, short time God blessed us with your life. We i earned from you the meaning of real strife. You were our inspiration, and now you're in God's care. Please continue the spirit you brought us all to share..."
